TILSTROM Engineering & Consulting
Job Description
Are you an engineer who enjoys working at the intersection of hardware and software? Do you want to design cutting‑edge products for leading tech companies, developing both the electronics and the code that brings them to life?
At TILSTROM Engineering & Consulting, we are looking for a Hardware/Software Engineer to join our growing team of consultants. In this permanent full‑time position, you will work on product development projects for our clients, contributing to both hardware design and software/firmware programming. As part of our continued growth, you’ll get to participate in innovative projects for companies in industries such as consumer electronics, audio technology, and high‑performance computing – helping to bring new products from concept to reality.
You will be employed by TILSTROM and work as a consultant on assignments within our clients’ R&D teams (primarily in the Copenhagen or Aarhus area). This means collaborating with product managers, electronics engineers, software developers, and other specialists to develop next‑generation hardware/software solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop electronic hardware for new products, including circuit schematics and PCB layouts, while selecting appropriate components for reliability and cost‑effectiveness.
- Develop embedded software/firmware to control hardware components (micro controllers, sensors, communication modules), primarily in languages like C/C++.
- Integrate hardware and software components, ensuring they work seamlessly together to meet product requirements and specifications.
- Build and test prototypes; debug and troubleshoot both electronic circuits and code to resolve any issues and improve performance.
- Work closely with cross‑functional teams (e.g., mechanical engineers, industrial designers) to ensure the product is holistically designed and optimized for production.
- Prepare technical documentation (schematics, code documentation, test reports) and support the transition from prototype to manufacturing ramp‑up.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in product development involving both hardware design and software/firmware programming.
- Proficiency in electronic circuit design and PCB layout; familiarity with tools such as Altium Designer, Eagle, or similar.
- Solid programming skills in embedded systems (C/C++); experience developing on micro controllers (e.g., ARM Cortex) and integrating sensors/actuators using common protocols (UART, I2C, SPI, USB, Bluetooth).
- Experience with testing and debugging tools for hardware (oscilloscopes, multimeters) and software (debuggers, logic analyzers).
- Strong teamwork and communication skills; fluency in English is required, and Danish proficiency is an asset.
About You
You are an enthusiastic, hands‑on engineer who loves both crafting hardware and coding software. You have a natural curiosity and persistence that drive you to solve complex technical problems through experimentation and iteration. You take pride in building functional prototypes and ultimately seeing your designs become real products.
You are adaptable and thrive in a consultant role where priorities can shift and each project brings new challenges. You take ownership of your work, keep projects moving forward, and contribute positively to every team you are part of. You work well in interdisciplinary teams and communicate clearly, making you an effective bridge between hardware and software domains.
